The Manufacturing Institute Runs Shingo Facilitator Training Workshop

8th August 2018

As Europe's longest-serving Shingo affiliate, our commitment to the Shingo Institute and support organisations to deploy the Shingo Model is stronger than ever. As a result, we have started educating six new Shingo Facilitators – all with industry-leading experience.

The Manufacturing Institute is committed to inspiring the next generation of manufacturing leaders. We’ve spent years supporting the sector in various ways, and last month we took things a step further by starting to train six new Shingo Facilitators.

What’s involved in the facilitator training?

All our practitioners need to become licensed facilitators in order to deliver Shingo Discover Excellence workshops. They must also demonstrate over 10 years of Operational Excellence leadership experience.

Six seasoned industry experts went through two days’ of rigorous training delivered by Julian Winn and Adam Buckley. This is the first phase of their training. Once they co-deliver a workshop, observe a seasoned facilitator and are assessed delivering a workshop, there will be half a dozen new industry experts who are licensed to deliver Shingo material on behalf of The Manufacturing Institute.

What does this mean?

Our training workshop has led to the biggest team of facilitators in our history as an organisation. We’re thrilled to have guided six experts on their journey to become facilitators of the Shingo Model so that they can help others achieve Enterprise Excellence.

Many of the delegates involved in these workshops are already reputed industry figures, including Shingo Prize Winner 2014 George Donaldson, Jounetsu Managing Director Stuart Mitton, Business Excellence Coach Steve Nicoll, Improvement Specialist Steve Wood, and Managing Director Hugh Samson.

Also, thanks to Ben Dehe, we now have extra capacity to deliver Shingo material in French to support geographical expansion.

What’s next for The Manufacturing Institute?

It’s been an exciting few weeks for everyone here at The Manufacturing Institute, but there’s plenty more to come from our organisation later this year.

Not only are we arranging a number of further workshops, we’re also hosting a conference in March 2019. Entitled Framework For Excellence, this special event will see many of the world’s most admired experts in attendance, as ticket-holders are given the rare opportunity to ask prestigious speakers questions and receive insightful answers.

What’s more, from October 2018, we will become the first business in Europe to have held a ten-year relationship with Shingo as an official affiliate. For a decade, we’ve been the organisation that manufacturers come to for first-class training as they strive to achieve operational excellence.
