OpEx IN ACTION AT LEYLAND TRUCKS
Come and see one of Europe’s most advanced truck assembly facilities, and talk to the people who make it a success, during our upcoming OpEx in Action workshop at Leyland Trucks.
Our OpEx in Action workshops are perfect for anyone who has already attended one of our Shingo Discover workshops and are keen to refresh or deepen their understanding of how the Shingo Model can be applied in a real working environment.
The workshop includes three extensive Gemba walks which will be assessed against the principles of the Shingo Model – Culture, Continuous Improvement and Enterprise Alignment.
Following the Gemba walks delegates will be required to feedback their observations focused around strengths and opportunities to the senior management team on site who are always keen for visitors to steal their best ideas and improvements ‘with pride.’
Leyland Trucks, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PACCAR Inc., employs 800 people and the company’s future development is focused on the use of leading edge applications of information technology in all aspects of truck design, manufacture, procurement and logistics.
Delegates will also be able to see how Leyland’s EWI works – electronic work instructions in a paperless environment – and learn more about Leyland’s lean journey and cultural change.
The OpEx in action workshop at Leyland Trucks is on 28th March 2018 and our early-bird rate is £395 per delegate – a discount of £80 until 9th February 2018.
Unfortunatley, no dates have been scheduled for this course. Keep checking back for updates!
We had worked with The Manufacturing Institute’s Peter Sussex before and we totally trusted him and liked his style. He’s very easy to get on with and his Shingo knowledge is very good. He knows what he is talking about.
Ray Howcroft - Lean Enterprise manager at Shingo Prize winning Ball Beverage Packaging, Europe
I would recommend the ARTL programme to other manufacturers without question. I liked the venue, I liked the people and I liked the work. It was a very well structured course and ticked all the boxes for me to improve my role at Rettenmaier.
Sean Collinson, Production Manager - Rettenmaier UK Manufacturing Limited
This is the best lean manager’s course that I’ve ever been on. It was excellent and a lot of that was down to the people who were delivering it. They know a lot about our industry and it felt like they were talking directly to us.
Brian McKay, Operations Director - Smurfit Kappa
There were over a 100 kids taking part and every single one was a superstar! It’s a great thing for employers to take part in. I would encourage anyone employed in manufacturing to come and take part in a Make It Challenge. You’ll feel like the stupidest person in the room - but you’ll love it!
John Grimshaw - Manufacturing applications engineer
I would definitely recommend Six Sigma Green Belt if you are heading towards a CI role or a production role.
Andrew Moule, Production Manager - Muller
I would recommend the MSc without doubt and have now got an appetite to continue learning. It’s completely changed my view on leadership and how I present myself to others.
Gavin Thatcher, MD - Stead McAlpin
Newsprinters was the most impressive facility I have seen, and the highlight of the study tour. I was blown away. If I could bottle this up and sell it I would make a fortune. I came away highly motivated. We will steal your ideas with pride.
OpEx study tour delegate
One of the best things about the Diploma is the exceptionally high quality of the deliverers. They are proven industry experts. I also really enjoyed studying with a great bunch of people. I learned as much from the class discussions as the material.
Phil Buxton, Site Crane Equipment Programme Lead - Sellafield
We were doing some work with the Growth Accelerator and they recommended The Manufacturing Institute’s Accelerated Route to Lean Manufacturing programme. I’ve never been on as course as good – and I’ve been on a lot.
Nick Walker, Operations Manager - Screentek
I would recommend the MSc as it is tailored really well for manufacturers. We actually have three people from the plant doing the MSc and that reflects the emphasis we place on developing our people.
Amanda Perry, Plant Manager - Ecolab
