Our OpEx in Action workshops are perfect for anyone who has already attended one of our Shingo Discover workshops and are keen to refresh or deepen their understanding of how the Shingo Model can be applied in a real working environment.


OpEx in Action Workshops

The workshop includes three extensive Gemba walks which will be assessed against the principles of the Shingo Model – Culture, Continuous Improvement and Enterprise Alignment.

Following the Gemba walks delegates will be required to feedback their observations focused around strengths and opportunities to the senior management team on site who are always keen for visitors to steal their best ideas and improvements ‘with pride.’

Delegates will get the chance to see first-hand how Entek selected, trained and introduced the appropriate lean tools for its continual improvement journey.  There is a strong focus on 5S, visual management, autonomous maintenance, standard operating procedures, PDCA, focussed improvement and Kaizen.

Winner of the Best Factory Best Process Plant & Energy and Environment, and joint winners of the People Management Awards in 2012, the plant exports 100% of everything it produces.

Production lines run 24×7, continually mixing and extruding materials into a continuous polyethylene sheet, which is then subjected to various highly specialised in process treatments.

This is high volume continuous process manufacturing using capital intensive manufacturing lines and ancillary site services.

The site, with 125 employees, lives and breathes continuous improvement and lean – pivotal to all activities.

The shop floor tour always includes the Engineering workshops. Anyone expecting to see it disorganised and messy will be disappointed. The team do a fantastic job keeping it in order.

The HR examples will include training, our bonus scheme, health and safety awards, attendance awards and rewards for individual contribution to our Continuous Improvement programmes.”
