Aimed at first line managers this hands-on programme offers workshops and seminars on everything from leadership to employment law to understanding lean manufacturing.
No formal qualifications are necessary, so it’s perfect for those with strong practical skills but little post-16 education.
Neville Mosley, the production manager at Tarmac, is pleased with the progress his staff have made on the programme.
He said: “I feel it really develops our people well and gives them new skills. It bridges the gap between our older, more established people and the new staff who are coming in. They learn a lot about communication, risk assessment, health and safety, first aid, and leadership skills.”

He said: “We have older people leaving and new people coming in. This course elevates the newer people to a new level and helps close that skills gap.”
